Dep. Robby VanCleave

Dep. RobbyVanCleave

When asked why I am running for sheriff of Taylor County, my answer can be summed up in one word: service. As a deputy sheriff for 18 years, I look back at how both law enforcement and our community has changed over the years.

I was born and raised in Taylor County and have never considered living anywhere else. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to help people in times of crises and provide services to those in need. My services as a school resource officer has further helped me understand and communicate with my community. Not only have I taken and solved criminal cases, but I have also served as a teacher, coach, and mentor to numerous students throughout our district.

Regardless of the challenges our community faces on a day to day basis, it is my aim to bring integrity, honor, and a greater sense of community to our Sheriff’s department – striving to help and serve the citizens of our community daily.

Robby has continued to maintain his yearly educational requirement set forth by the Department of Criminal and Justice Training, on top of taking and solving criminal cases throughout the county.

Outside of his responsibilities as a deputy sheriff, Robby has served as a teacher, coach, and mentor to numerous students. Robby and his wife, Becky, along with their son Lee are members of Mt. Roberts Baptist Church.

BRINGING CHANGE TO TAYLOR COUNTY

On the Issues

Regardless of the challenges our community faces on a day to day basis,
it is my aim to bring integrity, honor, and a greater sense of community to our
Sheriff’s department – striving to help and serve the citizens of our community daily.

Increased Resources

One of the greatest needs I have seen in our department is that of resources and man power. I want to ensure that our officers have the equipment and support that they need to be efficient at keeping our citizens safe.

Accountability

I want to heighten the importance of integrity across our department. This means working alongside our deputies and staff, treating them equally with respect and support.

Family Values

If elected, I would provide every deputy a weekend off at least once a month (or more). I am even willing to work myself on the weekends and holidays to ensure our deputies have the quality family time that they deserve.

Ending an Epidemic

Our community has been plagued with increased drug activity over the years. My promise to you, in whatever capacity I serve, is to continue the fight against an epidemic that has impacted our community at far too great a cost.

Helping the next generation

From drug education and beyond, I believe the greatest way we can impact our community is by reconnecting with our local schools.

A LEGAcY OF PUBLIC SERVICE

What My Supporters Say...

When it comes to serving a community it takes more than authority - it takes heart. A heart to serve. Robby has for sure got the heart to serve his community. Volunteering to help others is not a job, it is heart and passion for others. This is the same kind of heart and compassion you will continue to see after the election is over.
Michael Gribbins
I've had a lot of run-ins with the law when I was younger and this man has always been polite, professional, respectful and nonjudgmental - even when I didn't deserve that kind of treatment.
Dyllan McDonald
Robby is one of the best people that I have ever met. He is always the same caring person no matter where you may see him. I have known him about 20 years, and I have never heard him say anything bad about anyone. He has my vote for sure, but I hope he has yours too!
Phillip Underwood
I have known Robby for over 20 years, as I recruited him to play football at Campbellsville University. He came to CU to be a a successful student athlete and he certainly did that ! Robby’s strong work ethic provided the dedication that made him a solid student and a successful athlete. As Robby’s position coach in our football program, I had the opportunity every day to witness his strong commitment to excellence. It was this commitment that allowed him to reach his potential. I always seen Robby as a “gentle giant” who is focused on being the best that he can be in every challenge set before him. His quiet personality may well be his greatest strength. It is an honor for me to know Robby and to recommend him to the post of Sheriff for Taylor County.
